We will probably never experience some of mother nature’s awesome power up close. At least without a tv present. But tonight is the peak night of the Leonid Meteor shower. This is an opportunity to witness, in my opinion one of the more exciting things you can witness.
The leonid meteor shower will originate from the Leo the Lion constellation in the East and head west. The shower should begin just after midnight and peak before dawn. Make sure you find a dark place to watch. Pull out some chairs, a few glasses of tea and enjoy. Make a game out of it. Whoever sees the most. Trust me, it is very exciting when you see the first one. You won’t be able to wait till you see the next.
There is also much to learn from this experience. Where the constellation’s got there names, where the meteor showers come from. There is a reason that children love NASA and Astronauts. Remember it starts tonight Friday 16, 2012 and peak hours are in the very early hours just before dawn Saturday morning.
So get out with your kids and enjoy the show, you’ll probably enjoy it more than them.
